It's Monday! What Are you Reading? (29-10-'10)

undefinedIt’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. This event is hosted by Sheila of Book Journey.
My last read reads are 2 books by my favorite Indonesian authors.

The first is Padang Bulan, in English: Field of Moon

The Field of Moon tells the journey of life of 2 people, a woman named Maryamah who used to be called as Enong and Ikal (a nickname that represent Andrea himself). Enong had to face a tragic life since childhood. Her dream was to be able to speak English fluently, but the faith brought her into differ ent path. She came from a poor family, her father saved up some money to buy her an English dictionary. She was thrilled when she received it and treasured it more than people treasured their gold. Not long after that day, her father passed away, leaving her with her mother and her 3 sisters. Continue reading

Compare to Field of Moon, I like this one much better. Love Inside Glass talks more about Maryamah’s struggle to beat his ex-husband in a chess match and how Ikal learned human psychology through glasses of coffee. I enjoy reading every page of this book, the struggle and the humor are mixed in a very good way.

Ikal who had graduated from Sorbonne University decided to work in a coffee shop owned by his uncle. Belitong’s coffee shop is more like traditional café, people came to the shop, drank glasses of coffee, talked with everyone in the shop and when their hearts were content, they went home. Here in Indonesia, most people drink coffee in a glass not a cup. Ikal found love inside those glasses, the kind of love that was not the same as lover’s love, it’s a more general kind of love. Continue Reading.

Right now,I'm rereading The Lord of The Rings - The Two Towers for the 4th time. The reason is quite simple, because I haven't written my review of the book yet and I miss Pippin. I'm planning to reread The Lord of The Rings, 1 book a year.I love this book so much and my blog without review of The Lord of The Rings feels so empty :)

What are you book lovers reading today?

Hey, Novroz, I remember you mentioning Andrea Hirata! And Lord of the Rings, I read only one part (but it was part 2, someone gave me the wrong one), which I liked. I loved The Hobbit, though. Did you re-read that as well?

Have a good week!
